First of all, you have to log into your GTM account. And follow these steps:

 

  1.  Click "New Tag"
  2.  On the "Tag Configuration" section choose "Custom HTML
  3. Add this simple script on the textbox:
  4. <script>
        fbq('trackCustom', 'Referrer', {referrer: {{Referrer}}})
    </script>
  5.  Choose "All pages" on the Triggering section
  6. Add a new name for your Tag and Submit Changes

 


 
How to test the tag?

Move to Google and type some keywords that is linked to your website

 

  1. Download Facebook Pixel Helper extension and click on it  
  2. Click on "Referrer"
  3. You will see tag triggered and its source

 

How to create an audience to use this tag?

  1.  Move to the Business Manager 
  2. Click on Audience section 
  3. Choose Custom Audience
  4. Your sources section choose "Website" and press "Next"
  5. On the Events section choose "Referrer"
  6. Add Retention 
  7. URL or Parameters click the dropdown menu and choose "Referrer"
  8. Click to "Refine by" and choose "URL/Parameter"
  9.  Add "google" to it
  10.  Add a name and press "create audience"

 

After a while, your audience will be populated and you will be able to use this audience for remarketing campaigns to get better results.
